Is Your Business Prepared for the Remainder of 2017?
The year is flying by, with many deliverables coming and going. While you’re meeting your smaller milestones, are you on track for your larger plans? Are your business goals still the same, or have the changed? Consider the following points to understand if you are on track.
Check the Obvious: Is Your Sales Goal on Track?
While sales is only one portion of your business goal, it is often the most focused on. To see if you are meeting your business goals at a high level, check to see if you are on track for your sales goal. If you are, consider aiming higher. You still have 6 months left in the year- what else can you achieve? What other milestones do you want to hit this year?
If you aren’t on track for your sales goal, it’s time to evaluate the year and what has been going right and what has been going wrong. Ask yourself these questions:
- What do you need to do to get your sales back on track?
- Is it possible to meet your sales goal this year?
- Is your goal still relevant?
- What will you do every day, week, and month from here to move forward?
- Are you and your staff acting efficiently?
- Are you accurately tracking your analytics?
The answers to these questions may lie in different parts of your business. To help understand these questions and to find the answers, utilize your Point of Sale (POS) system. Your POS system tracks and gathers data on sales, efficiency, inventory, and employees. Creating and running reports around this data will provide you with a clear picture, which will help you build a plan to move forward.
Check in On Your Remaining Goals
Many business owners have goals outside of sales, such as increasing employee efficiency or marketing efforts. If you have goals outside of sales, it’s important to track them as well. Ask yourself the same questions that you asked yourself about your sales goal, and then go after data to confirm your thoughts. Some of that data may be found in your POS (such as how well your employees or email campaigns are performing), or you may have to look elsewhere. No matter where you get your information, the following step should be to build a plan moving forward. Make sure to clearly outline how you will achieve your goals.
